So welcome to the one and only blog devoted to the book series "Shivers" by M.D. Spenser. I'm hoping some of you out there will be familiar with this series, but a lot of you probably are not. The series ran through the late 90s but seemed to have little distribution. I only saw them for sale at Building #19, and though I did buy quite a few of them I never fully read any and wrote them off as a poor man's Goosebumps. I've recently rediscovered the series and actually sat down to read them. I was surprised at how drastic the differences were between Shivers and Goosebumps, from the initial idea of the novel, to the characterization and events taking place within the pages. Though many instances are still as ridiculous as a Goosebumps book can be, I felt I could visualize and believe the Shivers books more than I did the Goosebumps. While the Goosebumps were a fun read, Shivers seemed to always take a darker turn and include elements Goosebumps would never dare attempt.
There were 36 books in the series before the author stopped. I will be blogging about them all as I read through the series. They will not be in order of how they appear in the series because at the current time I do not own all of them. I will post them in the order I read them. Enjoy!
